How a Childhood Full of Love & Laughter Led Me to Natural Wellness

How a Childhood Full of Love & Laughter Led Me to Natural Wellness

When we think about health, most of us think about what to do when something goes wrong. We look for a remedy for a headache, a tea for a sore throat, or a supplement to boost our immune system.

But what if we looked at health differently?

After spending 40 years studying and practising natural health, I’ve come to believe that true wellness begins long before we become sick. It is built into the choices we make every single day.

It begins with the food we eat and the water we drink. It grows through regular movement, restful sleep, and time spent outdoors. It is strengthened by meaningful relationships, laughter, purpose, and learning to manage life’s stresses.

Natural remedies certainly have an important place. Herbs, teas, and nutritional supplements can support the body’s remarkable ability to heal. However, they work best when they are part of a healthy lifestyle — rather than a substitute for one.

Prevention Is Always Easier Than a Cure

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learnt is that prevention is always easier than a cure. Looking after our health doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Small, consistent habits often make the biggest difference.

Simple habits like preparing wholesome meals, taking a daily walk, spending time in nature, enjoying a cup of herbal tea, getting enough sleep, and making time for the people we love all contribute to our overall well-being.

These daily choices may seem insignificant on their own — but together they create the foundation for a healthier, happier life.

The Life Retreat Philosophy

At Life Retreat, we believe that every family deserves practical, natural ways to support their health. Our goal is not simply to help people recover from illness — but to help them build vibrant health so they can enjoy life to the fullest.

We’d Love to Hear Your Story

After 40 years in natural wellness, I still believe that some of the most powerful health lessons come not from textbooks — but from our childhoods and the people who raised us.

We’d love to know — what did you learn about health and wellness growing up?

Was there a grandmother with a herb garden, a family remedy that always worked, or a tradition that kept your family well?
